One Thing I’ve Noticed About Canadian Workplaces: Meetings Matter

Whether it’s an in-person meeting or a virtual one from the comfort of your home, workplace meetings are often an important part of getting things done.

Meetings give employees an opportunity to:

▪︎ Share updates on their work and progress
▪︎ Discuss challenges and ask for support
▪︎ Contribute ideas and suggestions
▪︎ Clarify expectations and responsibilities
▪︎ Give feedback and learn from others
▪︎ Highlight the work they’ve been doing
▪︎ Discuss goals, priorities and next steps

So, don’t always sit quietly and let everyone else do the talking. When you have something relevant to contribute, speak up.

Your work may speak for itself, but sometimes you also need to communicate what you’re doing, the results you’re achieving and the value you’re bringing to the team.

I just rounded up a 3-hour meeting today from the comfort of my bedroom, and the most interesting part? It was paid 😀

One thing I’m learning is that even meetings can be part of your work not necessarily something separate from it.

For those working in Canada, the United States or UK, how often do you have workplace meetings, and are yours usually virtual or in person? #LifeInCanada #CanadianWorkplace #WorkingInCanada #NewcomerLife #WorkplaceStories
