The Reality of Owning a House Abroad Nobody Talks About
When you’re renting abroad, you’re often thinking, “It’s okay. I’ll live here for a few years, save money, and eventually move into my own house.” 😅
Then you finally buy your own home and reality hits 😂
Even when you buy a newly built or an old house, it may not be exactly what you would have designed yourself. The layout, finishes, kitchen, bathrooms, lighting or even the location of certain things may not completely match your personal taste.
And that’s when you start remembering the house you built back home.
Back home, you could build from scratch and make decisions based on your own preferences from the floor plan to the finishing touches.
But here, unless you’re building from the ground up or doing renovations, you may have to make peace with a home that was designed with someone else’s choices in mind.
Sometimes, owning a house abroad makes you appreciate even more the freedom that came with building your own house back home.
If you live abroad, what’s one thing you miss about the way homes are built back home? Would you rather buy a ready-built house or build your own house from scratch?
