Good news for healthcare support workers in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦
The B.C. government has introduced a new one-time Permanent Residence (PR) pathway called the Temporary Rural / Remote Health Support Initiative. This program is designed for cleaning and security staff working in rural and remote healthcare facilities across B.C.
Registration opens: June 15, 2026
Registration closes: August 31, 2026
Eligible occupations include:
• Janitors, caretakers, and heavy-duty cleaners
• Light-duty cleaners
• Security guards and related security service occupations
To qualify, applicants generally must:
• Work full-time in a permanent position with a B.C. health authority
• Be employed in a rural or remote community
• Have at least 9 months of continuous full-time work experience with the same health authority
• Meet BC PNP eligibility requirements
• Receive support from their employer
Only 250 spots are available, making this pathway highly competitive. If you or someone you know works in a cleaning or security role at a rural or remote B.C. health facility, now is the time to start preparing the necessary documents.
This initiative recognizes the vital contributions of workers who help keep hospitals and healthcare facilities safe, clean, and operational every day. Their work matters, and this pathway offers an opportunity to build a future in Canada.
