Great news for international students and foreign workers in Quebec.

The Quebec government has announced the reopening of the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), one of the province’s most popular pathways to permanent residency.

Starting July 2, 2026, eligible international graduates and foreign workers will once again be able to apply for permanent residency through the program. The PEQ will remain open until July 2, 2028, giving thousands of temporary residents another opportunity to build their future in Canada.

Even more important, applicants who were already eligible before the program was paused in November 2025 will be given priority between July 2 and October 31, 2026. During this period, there will also be no cap on applications.

For many who have studied, worked, and built their lives in Quebec, this represents real hope and a second chance at permanent residency.

However, Quebec has also indicated that it plans to gradually phase out the PEQ in the future and shift toward its Skilled Worker Selection Program (PSTQ). This means this reopening may be one of the last major opportunities under the PEQ system.

If you or someone you know is in Quebec, this could be a life-changing opportunity.

Do you think Canada should keep creating more pathways for international students and skilled workers to become permanent residents?
