For Every One Job Opportunity In Canada, There Are Forty In The USA?

I recently had a deep conversation with a family now living in the U.S. They spent 12 years in Canada before relocating.

One thing the husband said really caught my attention

He said, “For every ONE job opportunity in Canada, there are about FORTY in the United States.”

According to him, it’s not just about population.
It’s about how the job market works.

In the U.S., companies are hiring all the time. Roles open quickly, close quickly, and reopen again. Employers are more flexible, willing to take chances, and hiring moves fast.

In Canada, jobs are there, but competition is tighter. Hiring can be slow, and many roles seem locked behind Canadian experience and other factors.

This doesn’t mean Canada is bad, Canada offers stability, safety, good social systems, and a softer landing for newcomers.

But when it comes to the sheer number of job opportunities especially in tech, healthcare, trades, and business the U.S. is on a different level.

It really got me thinking

If you’ve lived, worked, or job-hunted in both Canada and the U.S.
▪︎Do you agree with this comparison?
▪︎Where was it easier to get hired?
▪︎Would you choose stability or opportunity?

Let’s talk, your experience might help someone make a life changing decision.
