CANADA REMOVED MORE THAN 3,300 INDIAN NATIONALS IN JUST SIX MONTHS
Canada removed 3,323 Indian nationals between January 1 and June 30, 2026, making India the largest nationality group removed during the first half of the year, according to the latest data from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The figure is already close to 88% of the 3,779 Indian nationals removed during the whole of 2025.
The CBSA recorded 10,607 enforced removals across all nationalities during the first six months of 2026.
The top nationalities were:
๐ฎ๐ณ India โ 3,323
๐ฒ๐ฝ Mexico โ 1,573
๐ญ๐น Haiti โ 431
๐บ๐ธ United States โ 372
๐จ๐ด Colombia โ 354
๐ท๐ด Romania โ 293
๐ง๐ฉ Bangladesh โ 227
๐ต๐ฐ Pakistan โ 207
๐ณ๐ฌ Nigeria โ 205
๐จ๐ฑ Chile โ 190
For Africans, Nigeria stands out. With 205 Nigerian nationals removed between January and June 2026, Nigeria was the only African country among the top 10 nationalities removed during this period.
CBSA figures also show that 1,647 Nigerian nationals were in the โremoval in progressโ inventory as of June 30, meaning they were still in the process of being removed. Nigeria had 438 enforced removals in 2025.
The latest figures reflect Canadaโs broader immigration-enforcement system, which includes cases involving rejected refugee or asylum claims, expired immigration documents, overstays and other grounds of inadmissibility.
It is important to note that these numbers do not represent an India-specific or Nigeria-specific deportation policy. CBSA carries out removals under Canadaโs general immigration laws and enforcement procedures.
The CBSA data also shows 40,827 people in the removal-in-progress inventory overall. India has the largest number at 7,669, followed by Mexico at 6,561, while Nigeria ranks fifth with 1,647.
For anyone living in Canada or planning to come to Canada, the message is clear: maintaining valid immigration status and complying with the conditions of your stay remains extremely important.
