WHEN AFRICANS TURN AGAINST AFRICANS: WHO REALLY WINS?

This is a painful conversation, but it must be had.
Across parts of South Africa, tensions are rising between locals and fellow Africans who have come in search of better opportunities. Small businesses are being targeted. Street traders are being harassed. And in the worst cases, lives are lost.
We’ve seen voices like Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and Victoria Africa speak strongly about protecting local opportunities. But the real question is should protection ever turn into intimidation or violence?
Many foreign Africans are not taking anything by force. They are waking up early, setting up kiosks, selling food, fixing cars, trading goods doing whatever it takes to survive and provide for their families.
Yes, unemployment and hardship are real. Yes, people are frustrated. But turning that frustration on fellow Africans who are simply working hard is not the answer.
If someone builds a business, the response shouldn’t be to destroy it. It should be to rise, compete, and create something of your own.
Africa is already facing enough challenges. We cannot afford to fight ourselves.
When Africans attack Africans, we all lose.
Let’s choose unity. Let’s choose hard work. Let’s choose humanity.
