Ukraine Recovers Bodies of Two More Kenyans Fighting for Russia.

Ukraine has confirmed the recovery of the bodies of two Kenyan nationals who were fighting for Russia in the Donetsk region.
The men, Ombwori Denis Bagaka (39) and Wahome Simon Gititu (35), were reportedly recruited while working in Qatar, where they were employed by private security companies. According to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, they were lured into Russia’s war against Ukraine under false or misleading promises.
Their bodies were found alongside Clifton Nyapara Mogesa, another Kenyan previously confirmed dead in the conflict.
This tragic development exposes a growing and dangerous reality: migrants and foreign workers especially Africans are being targeted and exploited for war, often far from home, family, and legal protection.
A Warning to Migrants and Job Seekers Abroad
If you are a migrant, newcomer, or planning to travel for work, please be extremely cautious. Wars today are not only fought on battlefields but also through deception and recruitment scams.
How to Detect Dubious Travel or Recruitment Agents
Vague job descriptions
If an agent cannot clearly explain your job role, location, employer, or daily duties walk away.
Too-good-to-be-true offers
High salaries, fast visas, or “no experience needed” for security or logistics jobs in conflict-adjacent regions are major red flags.
Pressure tactics
Agents who rush you to decide, discourage you from asking questions, or tell you “this opportunity won’t wait” are often hiding something.
Unofficial contracts
No written contract, or contracts written in a language you don’t understand, are serious warning signs.
Requests to travel through unusual routes
Being asked to enter a country through a third country “for processing” or “training” should raise alarm bells.
Discouraging embassy or legal checks
Any agent who tells you not to contact your embassy, lawyer, or immigration consultant is not acting in your best interest.
Protect Yourself
Verify job offers with official company websites
Cross-check agents with your country’s labor ministry or embassy
Speak to others already working in that country
Never surrender your passport to agents
Trust your instincts confusion is often a warning
Many migrants leave home chasing stability and dignity, not war. Let these deaths serve as a painful reminder: ask questions, verify everything, and never gamble with your life for promises that sound easy.
May their souls rest in peace.
And may others learn before it’s too late.
