UK Court Convicts Nigerian Student of Attempted Rape After Night-Out Nightmare
What began as a typical night out in Hull ended in a harrowing struggle and a subsequent courtroom battle. Qudus Ajeyemi, a 27-year-old Nigerian international student known to friends as “Spartan,” now faces significant prison time. A jury at Hull Crown Court found him guilty of attempted rape and sexual assault after he chose to completely ignore a woman’s repeated refusals.
The verdict marks the end of a trial that hinged on a survivor’s bravery, a terrifying bedroom struggle, and a digital trail of guilt that the defendant could not erase.
From the Dance Floor to a Quiet Room
The evening started routinely, with a social gathering followed by a trip to a local nightclub. As the night wore on, the victim became unwell after consuming a significant amount of alcohol. Seeking a quiet, safe place to rest and sleep, she went upstairs to a bedroom in a residential home.
She thought she was escaping to safety. Instead, Ajeyemi followed her into the dark room.
The quiet sanctuary instantly turned into a trap. Ajeyemi began making aggressive, unwanted sexual advances. Despite the woman explicitly telling him she was “not here for that” and ordering him to stop, he refused to listen. The prosecution detailed a terrifying scene: Ajeyemi removed her underwear, took off his own trousers, and used his physical weight to pin her to the bed.
Refusing to submit, the victim fought back with everything she had. During the violent struggle, she was pushed off the bed but managed to break free. She fled downstairs, physically shaken and deeply distressed.
