Three Nigerians Face Losing Their U.S. Citizenship Over Alleged Immigration Fraud

The United States has filed legal actions to revoke the American citizenship of three Nigerian-born individuals, Jonathan Omorogieva Obasohan, Yetunde Folake Olaniyi, and Vivian Chike Obichere over allegations of immigration fraud and false statements made during their naturalisation process. The cases are part of what the U.S. Department of Justice says is its largest coordinated denaturalisation effort to date.
According to U.S. authorities, the allegations include the use of false identities, concealment of material facts, and other forms of misrepresentation during immigration and citizenship applications. These are allegations contained in civil court filings, and the cases will be determined through the legal process.
Obtaining citizenship through fraud can have serious consequences, even years after naturalisation. Immigration authorities in several countries are increasingly reviewing old cases where there is evidence of deception or identity fraud.
What do you think? Should governments continue to investigate and revoke citizenship obtained through fraud, regardless of how many years have passed?
