SIX NIGERIANS EXTRAD!TED TO THE U.S. IN ALLEGED ROMANCE-SCAM CASE

Six Nigerian nationals have been extrad!ted from South Africa to the United States over allegations of wire fr@ud and m0ney laundering linked to online romance sc@ms.
According to South Africa’s Hawks, the six men are alleged to be members of the Bl@ck Axe organised cr!m!nal network and allegedly targeted more than 100 women in the United States, including pensioners and businesspeople.
Authorities allege that the v!ct!ms were approached through sophisticated online relationships and that more than R100 million (about US$6 million) was allegedly lost through the sc@ms.
The six men were arrested in South Africa in 2021. After a lengthy extr@dition process, they were handed over to officials from the FBI and U.S. Secret Service at Cape Town International Airport on September 11, 2026. The extr@dition was coordinated by the Hawks and INTERPOL South Africa.
This case is another lesson that online fr@ud can cross borders, and international law-enforcement agencies are increasingly working together to investigate and prosecute alleged cybercrime networks.
For Africans living abroad, it is also a lesson that our individual actions can influence how people perceive our communities. Success anywhere in the world should be built on honesty, integrity and legitimate hard work.
Note: These are allegations, and the accused are entitled to due process. An allegation is not a conviction.
