NIGERIAN-BORN TEXAS PRISON GUARD ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY ATTACKING FEMALE INMATE

A 55-year-old Nigerian-born prison guard in Texas, Victor Arinze Ochuba, has been arrested after allegedly attacking a female inmate who threw juice in his face during a confrontation.
According to the arrest affidavit, Ochuba, who worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) at the Hobby Unit in Marlin, allegedly entered the inmate’s cell while angry and struck her multiple times.
Investigators said the confrontation began after the inmate asked to use the phone. When Ochuba refused, she allegedly threw red juice in his face.
The female inmate reportedly suffered swelling, redness and soreness on the left side of her head following the alleged attack.
Ochuba, who joined TDCJ in October 2020, was charged with official oppression. He was booked into Falls County Jail and later released after posting a $2,500 bond.
No matter how heated a situation becomes, officers are expected to maintain professionalism and follow established procedures.
What do you think, was the alleged response completely unacceptable, or should prison officers be given more protection when inmates provoke them?
