Indian National Pleads Guilty in the U.S. Over Canada–U.S. Human Smuggling Network

A 22 years old Indian national has pleaded guilty in the United States for his involvement in a human smuggling operation that allegedly moved migrants from Canada into the U.S. through the northern border.
According to the United States Department of Justice, the suspect identified as Shivam Lnu helped coordinate transportation for migrants after they crossed into New York. Authorities say he arranged drivers, hotel stays, and temporary housing as part of a larger smuggling network operating between late 2024 and mid-2025.
Investigators revealed that in January 2025, United States Border Patrol agents stopped two vehicles that allegedly tried to flee during a traffic stop. Officials later discovered 12 migrants inside the vehicles.
The accused has now officially admitted to the charges and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted at sentencing.
The case comes at a time when illegal migration through the Canada–United States border is facing growing scrutiny from both governments, with authorities increasing investigations into cross-border smuggling operations and undocumented migration routes.
