I LOVE HOW INTENTIONAL SOME COUPLES ARE HERE

Something I’ve really noticed since coming to Canada is how intentional some couples are about supporting each other after having a baby.

My pastor has been on paternity leave for about three months now. His wife had a baby, and it’s not just the mother who is home caring for the newborn even the husband, who is the lead pastor of our church, is taking time away from church to be there for his family. Honestly, I find that beautiful. Note both mother and baby are healthy and in stable condition

The way I see it, the mother may have carried and delivered the baby, but the whole family has welcomed a new member. So everyone has a role to play physically, emotionally and practically to make the transition easier.

Back home in Nigeria, the approach can be very different. Sometimes, mothers are expected to return to church and other responsibilities just a few weeks after delivery, while the husband may continue working without taking much time away.

Different environment, different systems, different approaches.

But it got me thinking: which approach do you find more endearing the husband taking time off to support the mother and newborn, or returning to work while the mother focuses on the baby? Let’s hear your thoughts.
