Fuel Relief Incoming: Gas Prices to Drop Starting April 20

Canadians could soon feel some relief at the pump.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced in Ottawa that the federal government will temporarily suspend the fuel excise tax on gas and diesel just hours after securing a majority through three key byelection wins.
The measure kicks in on April 20 and will run until September 7, offering much-needed support as global oil prices continue to swing unpredictably.
What’s driving the spike?
Ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran have disrupted oil shipments through the critical Strait of Hormuz a route responsible for about 20% of the world’s energy supply.
Since late February, those disruptions have pushed gas prices up by over 40 cents per litre in some parts of Canada.
About 10 cents off per litre for regular gasoline
Around 4 cents off per litre for diesel
For many households already feeling the pinch, this could bring some short-term breathing room.
What do you think will this actually make a difference, or is it just a temporary fix? Drop your thoughts below!
