Patrick Nwaokwu has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to a major wire fraud scheme involving fake nursing diplomas, transcripts, and licences.
Authorities say the operation generated over $1.5 million, allowing unqualified individuals to secure real healthcare jobs putting patient safety at serious risk.
The case, investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, highlights growing concerns about fraud in the healthcare system. Nwaokwu will also serve two years of supervised release after his prison term.
