Crime Doesn’t Pay: Nigeria Hands Over Wanted Fugitive to UK Authorities

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in collaboration with INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has successfully extradited a wanted fugitive, Matthew Chukwuemeka Adebiyi, to the United Kingdom.
Adebiyi is accused of involvement in the 2018 murder of Joshua Boadu before fleeing to Nigeria to evade justice. He is also alleged to have been part of a network supplying crack cocaine a Class-A drug across the UK between 2017 and 2018.
After a formal extradition request in September 2024, he was arrested in Abuja on January 23, 2025. The case went through the Federal High Court in Lagos, where Justice A.O. Faji approved his extradition on February 16, 2026, in line with Nigerian law.
On April 14, 2026, he was officially handed over to UK authorities at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, to face prosecution.
This case sends a strong message: no matter how far you run, the law will catch up with you.
Stay out of crime. It never ends well. Choose a path that secures your future, not one that destroys it.
