Canada Welcomes Over 254,000 New Citizens In Less Than One Year 🇨🇦

Between April 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, Canada officially welcomed 254,500 new citizens, marking another major milestone in the country’s immigration journey.
For many newcomers, becoming a Canadian citizen is the result of years of dedication from studying and working hard to obtaining permanent residence and finally taking the citizenship oath. Behind every ceremony is a powerful story of sacrifice, resilience, and hope for a better future.
Canada continues to depend heavily on immigration to support population growth, fill labour shortages, and strengthen long-term economic development. This is why citizenship remains an important part of the country’s future.
New citizens also gain major benefits, including:
• The right to vote
• Access to one of the world’s strongest passports
• Greater travel flexibility
• Long-term security without needing PR card renewals
These latest numbers once again show why Canada remains one of the world’s top destinations for people searching for stability, opportunity, and a fresh start.
To every new Canadian citizen congratulations on this incredible achievement.
