CANADA MINIMUM WAGE IS GOING UP: 5 PROVINCES AFFECTED.

If you work for minimum wage in Canada, October 1, 2026 will bring a wage increase in five provinces.

Here’s what is changing:

Ontario: $17.60 ➡️ $17.95/hour
Manitoba: $16.00 ➡️ $16.40/hour
Saskatchewan: $15.35 ➡️ $15.70/hour
Nova Scotia: $16.75 ➡️ $17.00/hour
Prince Edward Island: $17.00 ➡️ $17.30/hour

These are the general minimum wage rates and are based on provincial rules.

It may look like a small increase, but for someone working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, the difference can add up to roughly:

Ontario: $728 more per year before deductions
Manitoba: $832 more
Saskatchewan: $728 more
Nova Scotia: $520 more
PEI: $624 more

Of course, actual take-home pay will depend on taxes and other deductions.

For workers, newcomers, students and families trying to manage rent, groceries, transportation and other everyday expenses, every increase can make a difference.

But here’s the bigger question, are these increases enough to keep up with the cost of living?

Drop your province in the comments and share this with someone who needs to know.
