CANADA IS LOOKING TO DEEPEN ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH EUROPE

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will begin discussions with the European Union this fall, with the goal of building a stronger economic and security partnership.

In his words: “This fall, we will begin discussions with the European Union – the world’s second-largest economy – to build a much stronger and deeper security and economic partnership.”

This comes as Canada looks to diversify its trading relationships and create more opportunities for Canadian businesses and workers in international markets.

With trade tensions with the United States continuing, strengthening economic ties with Europe could become an important part of Canada’s strategy to expand its global partnerships.

Could a stronger Canada–EU relationship create more opportunities for Canadian businesses? What do you think?
