AFTER 56 PAINFUL DAYS… THEY ARE FINALLY FREE!
There is joy across Oyo State and Nigeria today as the abducted school pupils and their teachers have finally regained their freedom after spending nearly two months in captivity. The release comes after weeks of fear, uncertainty, and prayers from families, communities, and concerned Nigerians.
For the parents, today is more than just another day, it is the end of countless sleepless nights, tears, and unimaginable anxiety. No parent should ever have to wonder whether their child will return home safely from school.
While we celebrate this long-awaited reunion, we must not forget the painful lessons this tragedy has exposed. Schools should be places of learning, not places of fear. Every child deserves the right to an education without the constant threat of violence or kidnapping.
This heartbreaking incident is also a reminder that insecurity affects every family, regardless of region, tribe, or religion. Protecting our children must remain a national priority. Governments at all levels must continue to strengthen security around schools, improve intelligence gathering, and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Today, we thank God that these children and teachers are alive and reunited with their loved ones. We also remember the teacher who lost his life during this terrible ordeal and pray that his sacrifice is never forgotten.
May this be the last time Nigeria witnesses such a heartbreaking attack on innocent schoolchildren.
Welcome home to the pupils and teachers of Oyo State. May healing replace trauma, and may peace return to every affected family.
What message would you like to send to the children, teachers, and their families as they begin the journey of healing?
