A Kenyan man has been convicted in one of the largest Medicaid fraud schemes ever uncovered in Washington state.

Kenyan man, David Mungai Njenga, has been convicted on 11 criminal charges in what authorities say is one of the largest Medicaid fraud cases ever prosecuted in Washington state.
According to prosecutors, Njenga operated a staffing agency that allegedly used stolen identities and fake nursing credentials to place unqualified workers in healthcare facilities. Investigators say the scheme not only defrauded the healthcare system but also put vulnerable patients at serious risk.
A jury found him guilty of multiple offenses, including identity theft and leading organized crime. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 16 and could face up to 16.5 years behind bars.
Authorities also revealed that a co-defendant, Everlyn Njuki, reportedly left the country and remains wanted in connection with the case.
This case serves as a powerful reminder that shortcuts and fraudulent schemes can have devastating consequences. In critical sectors such as healthcare, integrity, professionalism, and accountability are essential because people’s lives depend on them.
