British-Nigerian who has been appointed Minister of State in the UK’s Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Success isn’t always about where you start. Sometimes, it’s about refusing to give up.
Raised in a council estate in Brixton by a single mother, Florence’s journey was built on hard work, not privilege. She worked at Sainsbury’s as a teenager, became the first in her family to attend university, served her local community for years, entered Parliament in 2019, and has now risen to one of the UK’s key government positions.
Her story is a wakeup call to Africans living abroad that your background does not have to limit your future. With determination, education, and consistency, doors can open in places you never imagined.
Her appointment also shows that immigrants and their children can make meaningful contributions to the countries they call home while inspiring the next generation to dream bigger.
Congratulations once again, Florence Eshalomi! Wishing you wisdom and success as you help shape the future of housing and local communities in the UK.
