7 THINGS TO PUT IN PLACE BEFORE GIVING BIRTH ABROAD, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A CAREER MOM

Giving birth abroad can be an exciting experience, but if you’re a career mom, there are several things to plan for beyond buying baby clothes and preparing the nursery.
Here are a few important things to consider before your baby arrives:
1. Childcare plans: Who will care for your baby when you return to work? Start researching daycare options early, as waiting lists can be long in some places.
2. Maternity leave: Understand your employer’s maternity leave policy, available benefits, eligibility requirements and how your income may be affected.
3. Finances: Budget for baby essentials, medical expenses not covered by insurance, childcare and possible changes in income.
4. Support system: Who will help you during recovery and the early months of caring for your baby? Having reliable support can make a big difference.
5. Healthcare and delivery costs: Understand your health insurance coverage, prenatal care, delivery expenses and any additional costs before making plans.
6. Work and career plans: Consider how you will balance your recovery, br€astfeeding if applicable, childcare arrangements and returning to work.
7. Immigration and travel documents: If you’re giving birth in a country where you’re not a citizen or permanent resident, understand the rules that apply to your immigration status, your baby’s documents and any future travel.
Remember, giving birth abroad is not just about choosing a hospital or preparing for delivery. It’s also about planning for life after the baby arrives, especially when you have a career to return to.
