🇨🇦 CANADA CRACKS DOWN ON IMMIGRATION FRAUD: NEW COMPENSATION PLAN FOR VICTIMS

Canada is moving to tighten the rules surrounding paid immigration advice after years of complaints involving fraud, fake promises, stolen money, and unethical conduct by some immigration consultants.
Under the proposed new framework, people who lost money because of fraud, theft, dishonesty, or misrepresentation by licensed immigration consultants could soon be eligible to receive compensation through a new claims fund.
This is being seen as one of the biggest changes to Canada’s immigration consulting industry in years.
For many newcomers and international applicants, immigration consultants play a major role in helping with visas, permanent residency, work permits, and refugee claims. But unfortunately, some vulnerable families have reportedly been exploited with false promises, fake documents, and abandoned applications.
The new measures are expected to:
Increase accountability for immigration consultants.
Strengthen oversight and discipline.
Better protect immigrants and newcomers.
Provide financial relief for verified victims of misconduct.
Supporters say the move could help restore trust in Canada’s immigration system and discourage fraudulent practices that have affected many families both inside and outside Canada.
Critics, however, believe stronger enforcement and faster investigations will still be necessary to truly stop immigration scams.
Do you think Canada is finally doing enough to protect immigrants from fraudulent consultants?
