Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, Celebrates as Daughter Jazmyne Graduates with LL.B. Honours from UK University 🇳🇬🇬🇧

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has proudly celebrated the graduation of his daughter, Jazmyne Wike, who earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with Upper Second-Class Honours from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
He attended the ceremony alongside his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike, and their sons to celebrate this important family achievement.
Congratulations to Jazmyne for her hard work and academic success. Earning a law degree with honours is no small feat and deserves recognition.
At the same time, her graduation has reignited a conversation many Africans have had for years: Why do so many African politicians and top public officials choose to send their own children abroad for higher education while the public universities in their home countries continue to face funding challenges, strikes, inadequate facilities, and declining global competitiveness?
If those entrusted with leading a country have enough confidence to invest in foreign universities for their own children, many citizens naturally ask whether that reflects a lack of confidence in the education system they oversee.
This is not just about one family. It is a broader discussion about governance, priorities, and the future of education in Africa. Imagine the transformation that could happen if African universities received the same level of commitment and investment that many leaders make in educating their own children overseas.
Every child deserves access to a world-class education whether they study in Lagos, Abuja, Nairobi, Accra, Johannesburg, or London.
What are your thoughts? Should African leaders do more to strengthen local universities, or is every parent simply free to choose what they believe is best for their children? Share your views respectfully in the comments.
