Abdulrahman Oluwatumike Oriyomi Charged After Allegedly Using Fake Boarding Pass to Board U.S. Flight

A 25-year-old Houston resident, Abdulrahman Oluwatumike Oriyomi, has been charged with a felony after authorities say he used a fake boarding pass to get through airport security and board a United Airlines flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
According to investigators, the incident happened on May 18 when Oriyomi passed through a TSA checkpoint and later unsuccessfully attempted to scan a boarding pass at a departure gate. Authorities allege that he then moved around the airport before slipping past airline staff at another gate and boarding a Los Angeles-bound flight without authorization.
The situation came to light when a passenger noticed him sitting in a seat assigned to someone else. Flight attendants also became suspicious after finding someone in a restroom as the aircraft prepared for takeoff. After checking records, crew members reportedly discovered that Oriyomi did not have an assigned seat or a valid booking on the flight.
The aircraft returned to the gate, prompting a response from airport police, the FBI, TSA officials, Houston Airports authorities, and K-9 units. All passengers were asked to leave the plane while authorities investigated the security breach.
Investigators later determined that the boarding pass allegedly used by Oriyomi was fraudulent and lacked a valid QR code. Officials say the incident delayed the flight by several hours and disrupted airport operations.
Oriyomi has been charged with impairing or interrupting the operation of a critical infrastructure facility. He was released on a $25,000 bond under conditions that include surrendering his travel documents and staying away from airports while the case proceeds.
