UK Court Jails Repeat Offender for 17 Years After Brutal Attack on Young Woman
A 24 year old Nigerian migrant, Gift Oladele, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after being found guilty of a violent sexual assault in Wrexham, Wales.
At Mold Crown Court, prosecutors told the court the incident occurred in September 2025. Oladele approached the victim outside a takeaway in Wrexham city centre, initially appearing friendly and offering to walk her home. Instead, he led her to a secluded area where he attacked her.
The court heard he overpowered the victim and made threats to harm her if she reported the crime, including threats involving sharing images online. Despite this, she managed to return home and immediately alerted her family, who contacted the police.
He was arrested the following day, and investigators later uncovered evidence on a mobile phone he had attempted to hide, including searches linked to violent acts.
The case also revealed a troubling history. Oladele had prior convictions for violent offences, was on bail at the time of the attack, and had previously served a prison sentence for a similar crime in 2022. He had also avoided deportation after a human rights appeal.
Sentencing him, Simon Mills described the crime as “truly depraved” and warned that Oladele posed a serious danger to women.
In her victim impact statement, the survivor shared that she continues to suffer severe trauma and fear, and no longer feels safe going out alone.
